Ways to Avoid the Flu
- Get a flu shot - The CDC has a handy HealthMap Vaccine Finder to help you locate a vaccine near you
- Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly
- Use hand sanitizer
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
- Eat healthy and stay hydrated
- Manage your stress and get 7-9 hours of sleep per night
If You Have the Flu
- Stay home and try to avoid contact with other people
- Visit a doctor if your symtoms
- Wash your hands frequently to minimize spreading the flu to others
- Cough into your elbow and use tissues for sneezes
- Do not share your food, drinks or utensils with others
- Get plenty of rest and stay hydrated
- Ask your hall office to have either a sick tray or other food brought to your room
If you have a brief illness, contact your instructor directly. If you are absent from class for a week or more, you must notify your academic dean.
