Important Flu Information

Ways to Avoid the Flu

  • Get a flu shot - The CDC has a handy HealthMap Vaccine Finder to help you locate a vaccine near you
  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly
  • Use hand sanitizer
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Eat healthy and stay hydrated
  • Manage your stress and get 7-9 hours of sleep per night

If You Have the Flu

  • Stay home and try to avoid contact with other people
  • Visit a doctor if your symtoms
  • Wash your hands frequently to minimize spreading the flu to others
  • Cough into your elbow and use tissues for sneezes
  • Do not share your food, drinks or utensils with others
  • Get plenty of rest and stay hydrated
  • Ask your hall office to have either a sick tray or other food brought to your room

If you have a brief illness, contact your instructor directly. If you are absent from class for a week or more, you must notify your academic dean.
