Spring 2015 Move In

Residence Halls Open:
Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.

Residents may move in anytime between January 11, 2015 when the halls open and January 14, 2015 when classes begin.

The Welcome Center in Wiggins Complex will be open on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The ID Office in the Student Union Building will be open on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Residents who have canceled their housing but have not yet moved out will need to contact housing@ttu.edu or (806) 742-2661 to schedule a move out time for January 8 or 9, 2015.

Before You Arrive On Campus

  • Consider renting a MicroFridge from Collegiate Concepts, Inc.
  • Investigate Renter's and/or Student Insurance, find out more on our Safety site » or on brochures at Red Raider Orientation.
  • Start gathering boxes for move in and spend time with family and friends!

When You Get Here

If you are new to campus, your first stop will be the office of your assigned hall/complex to pick up your room key and check-in paperwork. In order to check in, you will need either your Student ID or an appropriate State-Issued ID for identity verification. Be sure to pack that somewhere easily accessible!

Students are responsible for keeping track of their own room key. If you happen to get locked out of your room, visit the hall office for assistance. Please note, lock-out keys from the hall office will only be checked out to residents of the room.

Once checked in with the hall office you can begin moving in your items. Students and parents may park in any designated residence hall lot (Z lots). Parking is limited so we suggest planning to drop items off at the curb and then parking farther out. A parking permit is required on January 12, 2015, the day after move in.

Carts will be available for check out at each hall office. A $10 cash deposit (exact change) must be made to reserve a cart for 30 minutes. If the cart is not returned within 30 minutes, the $10 deposit will be donated to charity. However, due to the limited number of available carts, you are advised to bring your own dolly or hand truck.

What To Bring

Below is a short list of items that might be helpful to have during the year.  It is a good idea to check with your roommate(s) before bringing everything yourself.  Often the amenities in a room are shared – there is no need (or space) for two of everything.  Coordinating which roommate will bring large items like refrigerators, microwaves and televisions can save space and make a much more pleasant living environment.

  • Student ID (For check-in, residence hall access, meals, etc.)
  • State-Issued ID (can be used as an alternative to Student ID for the check-in process if you are unable to get the Student ID on or prior to move-in day)
  • Original Social Security Card (for working on campus - copies are not accepted)
  • Bed linens, including mattress pad, pillows, pillow cases, XL twin-sized sheets, and blankets (blankets, sheets and comforters are available from Residence Hall Linens »)
  • Bathroom linens, including towels and washcloths
  • Toiletries and a bin to store them
  • Prescribed medications
  • Clothes for warm and cool weather
  • Umbrella
  • Swimsuit and beach towel
  • Laundry basket, detergent, and dryer sheets
  • UL-approved surge protector, up to 12 feet
  • Alarm clock
  • Computer and accessories, including an ethernet cable for internet access
  • Posters, pictures, area rugs and other decorations
  • Bicycle with a secure lock
  • Camera
  • Check or money order if you plan on opening a bank account
  • Small trash can

Coordinate with your roommate to bring:

  • Small ironing board and iron
  • Television and DVD Player
  • Stereo
  • Microwave - 1500 watts or less
  • 2 to 4 cup coffee maker
  • Dining utensils
  • Small refrigerator - 2.7 cubic feet or less (MicroFridges from Collegiate Concepts, Inc. are available to rent)

What Not To Bring

  • Expensive clothing and jewelry
  • Off-season clothes
  • Alcohol
  • Halogen lamps
  • Toasters, toaster ovens, hot plates, or open coiled appliances
  • Pets (besides fish in a tank of up to 5 gallons)
  • Weapons
