Which residence halls are now triple occupancy halls?

The only residence halls that have been changed to triple occupancy are Horn, Knapp, Bledsoe, and Sneed. All other residence halls will remain double occupancy rooms and are not affected by this change. Rooms on the second floor of Bledsoe and above are also double occupancy rooms and will not be changed to triple occupancy.

Who is this third person, do I get any information on them?

You will have access to your roommate’s name and official email address through the housing website.

Can I decide or have a preference on who takes that third spot?

Students will be assigned to these spaces based on their application date and preferences. If you have a friend who would like to be your third roommate they can request your hall with you and your current roommate.

When I signed up I was only living with one person, why do I now have two roommates?

Based on our Fall 2014 projections we are making room to accommodate a large freshmen class.

Does this mean I will have to work out who brings the mini-fridge and microwave with one extra person? What happens when they leave?

It is always best to get in contact with your roommate(s) ahead of time to decide who plans to bring each item. When planning, keep in mind that the third roommate may be reassigned to a permanent room later in the semester.

What if I do not like one of my roommates?

You will need to go through the same process as other students that have roommate issues. Please visit http://housing.ttu.edu/change » for more information.

Why is this happening to me and not someone else? What if I just do not want to room with two people?

This change is effective for most of the spaces in our moveable furniture halls: Bledsoe (first floor) Sneed, Horn and Knapp. You can put in a room change preference to be placed in a different hall that only has double rooms.

I noticed there are only two closets, how will they be divided among three students?

Each student will have a dresser to themselves but the closets will be shared by the three roommates. It is up to the roommates to decide how the closets will be divided.

Where will all of my personal stuff go? (clothes and decorations specifically)

Your personal belonging can go in your desk or dresser. You can also coordinate with your roommates on the shared space and decorations.

Are the rooms larger than most 2 student rooms?

The rooms are not necessarily larger but the moveable furniture option allows for the space to be used more efficiently.

How do I get up to the top bunk?

The end of the bed can be used as a ladder.

What happens if I fall off my bunk and get injured?

If you are concerned about falling off the top bunk there will be a limited number of available rails at the hall office.

What will be the cost if my child shares a room with two other students rather than only one?

What will the additional roommate pay? Is it cheaper than what I am paying?

Will the charge be the same even though I'm technically paying for a third of the room?

There will be a $1000 discount for the academic year for each student living in a triple occupancy room, while there are three residents living in the room. If the three students are in the triple room for a partial semester the rate will be prorated for the number of days there are three students assigned to the room.

Where do I put my TV?

Will there be any space for my mini-fridge, microwave, TV?

Are there going to be three desks, beds, closets and drawers?

Where would this third person sleep?

Will there be enough room for all three of us?

Each student will have a bed, a desk and a dresser. Together the roommates can decide where to locate other items such as a TV, microwave and mini-fridge. We do recommend talking to your roommates ahead of time to decide what each person is bringing. Space will be more limited with three students sharing the room but there is enough space for each student.
